Run the workshop
A full day for a room of business analysts, or a half day if you trim to the modelling and dashboard labs. Everything below assumes you've skimmed the repo README.
Before the day
- Anyone can follow along on a free Databricks account — a Free Trial or Community Edition workspace is enough.
- Share the repo link ahead of time and ask attendees to complete the ~20-minute setup (Lab 0) beforehand, especially for a half-day run.
Deploy the scenario
- The repo ships as a bundle: deploy it once to lay down the catalog, schemas, synthetic data, metric view, and starter dashboards.
- It also drops into a customer workspace — pick your own catalog and schema, and use object prefixes when you're sharing a catalog.
Pick your shape
- Full day: Lab 0 through Lab 4, plus a deep dive if the group is moving fast.
- Half day: have people set up in advance, then run the modelling and dashboard labs and finish with the natural-language piece.
On the day
- Lean on the story — the café's move to online beans is the thread that makes every metric mean something.
- Every lab stands on its own because setup pre-builds the assets, so you can start wherever the room needs to.
